on friday, a colleague was giving away free tickets he had won to this weekend's bayou city art festival, and i jumped on the opportunity. the festival runs twice a year, once in the spring in memorial park (a large + lovely park in the heart of houston) and once in the fall downtown. we have visited the fall festival, but had yet to visit the one in the spring.
it was perfect weather for a festival, and even though we didn't really have time to visit, we headed on over for a couple hours. parking was a nightmare (our tickets actually came with a free vip parking pass, but the vip lot was full and closed by that time), but after some persistence, we were at the entrance.
since we were pressed for time, i didn't have the opportunity to take a close look at most of the artists, but i did take pictures. the festival had a wide range of arts and crafts: paintings, sculpture, clothing, jewelry... .even some performers. like this guy.
is this not the coolest costume ever? he's an ent!
sculpture made out of bottle caps.
gourds to art.
doesn't this little guy look like something out of a tim burton movie?
it was lovely exploring the work of all these super talented artists from all over the country (and beyond). all in all, a beautiful afternoon.
That ent is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
