baby kimono shirt

this past weekend, my friend olivia's baby had her first birthday party. it also happened to be the first baby birthday party that i had ever been to. it was panda themed, in case you were wondering, and the birthday girl was decked out in a cute little panda shirt and embroidered pants. there were panda hats, banner, and cake- and not to mention tons of food, plus favors for the kids AND grownups. i must say, it was a very educational and fun experience for us non-parents.

unfortunately, i completely forgot to take pictures, so i'm borrowing a few from olivia, who, among other things, is a great photographer. she specializes in baby boutique modeling services with her beautiful daughters as models, but also specializes in newborns, children, families, maternity, and high school seniors. check out her website!

for the grownups.... these were delicious.

in honor of the occasion, i made her a little kimono shirt. i downloaded the pattern quite a while ago from http://habitual.wordpress.com/kimono/.  she no longer has the pdf available for immediate download, but it seems she's sending them out via email by request.  it was easy to make (although i had to make an extra note to the pattern to make it more accurate).

hopefully i'll get pictures of her in the kimono soon- she tried it on at the party and she looked oh so cute.
