ways to rid yourself of 30 yards of felt #2: create embellished cards
after i arrived at my parents house last week for thanksgiving, i had the following conversation with my father:
dad: grandma called earlier. she told me to thank you for the card you sent. i told her you made it.
me: you told grandma i made the card? ... i didn't make the card. i bought it.
dad: you didn't make it?
me: no... what made you think i made the card? you didn't even see the card.
dad: don't you make ALL your cards? i thought you make all the cards you send, that's why i said it.
me: i make SOME of the cards i send, not all the cards.
dad: ok. well. i guess you can tell her that you didn't make the card next time you talk to her.
me: yeah.. i'm pretty sure she'll figure it out, since it says "carlton cards" on the back.
i don't know why, but our conversation made me laugh. it really has nothing to do with the rest of this post, but i wanted to share.
anyway, it had been a while since i had made any cards, but i thought that making a felt embellished card would be a fun little project and reduce my weighty stash by .000001%. YES!!!

free mother's day card download
mother's day is just around the corner. have you sent your cards out yet?
if not, it's okay, i've got you covered. you can download one i designed here!
when printing, make sure to set the page scaling options to "none" under print settings. cut using the lines as a guide, and then fold in half. the card should be 5"x7" when finished.
please note that the gray text on the document is a watermark, and will not appear when you print.
feel free to share this on your blog or email, etc., but please only share the link to this post, and do not directly send the file itself.

holiday preview
i start getting antsy sometime during september, always a little excited about what is soon to come: october. I love autumn. nevermind the fact that houston doesn’t really have a fall. i am not a big fan of halloween, but it marks the beginning of the holiday season. after living abroad for a couple years, i realized how much i enjoy the kitschy american commercialism of the fall/winter holidays. i thoroughly enjoy all the tacky store décor, along with all the useless seasonal goods, even though i rarely, if ever, purchase them. we have had a few fleeting moments of cool weather this past month (meaning, under 80F), and every time it has filled me with joy. this time of year always inspires me to bake all kinds of pumpkin based goodies, bust out the hats and scarves (not that I need them), and buy new winter shoes (once again, not that i need them). i also begin daydreaming about christmas. christmas trees. christmas treats. christmas music. christmas gifts.
to kick off the season, i decided to get a somewhat early start on my holiday cards for etsy, so, here is a preview of this year’s christmas cards. i will be posting them in my shop sometime this month or early next- i haven’t quite decided… thoughts? anyone?
